The project “Consciousness — A Need to Awaken”, an exhibition by John Stanmeyer, featured photographs and short films addressing urgent global issues such as climate change, social injustice, environmental degradation, and socio-economic disparities. Spanning 30 years of his work across four continents, each photograph was accompanied by personal narratives, offering a profound reflection on humanity’s impact on the planet and the interconnectedness of our existence.

Beyond the exhibition, the project featured an educational component, leveraging Stanmeyer’s expertise as an educator. He led a long-form storytelling workshop for Georgian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani photographers at the Design Institute, gave an Artist Talk at the Georgian Arts Museum, and hosted a public discussion with National Geographic Georgia.

 

Through photography and storytelling, the exhibition aimed to inspire empathy, awareness, and meaningful dialogue on the pressing challenges of our time.
